The interaction and influence between labels, stereotypes and self-identity. I often wonder how people are labeled as stereotypes, and how those labels define a person, or even, alter them. I made a survey containing the labels people have put or might put on me (such as female, Taiwanese, lesbian, art major, etc.) and asked participants to draw out what came to mind, then asked them to stage photos with me as one of the props. I hope to inspire a conversation about self-identity and how stereotypes turn into labels.
